Additionally, this mode provides the strongest limited-slip clamping force of the three modes. Although the US versions did not come with the AYC, it did come with a rear 1.5way clutch type LSD (limited-slip differential), which limits the slip from both rear wheels causing less traction loss of the rear wheels. The most common setup is the 1.5 way LSD, locking on throttle and partially locking on braking. In racing, Lancer Evolutions are not equipped with AYC or ACD because it is believed that better lap times are achieved by pure driver skill without any computer based assistance systems.
One of the changes from the previous iteration of the Lancer Evolution, was the change in the engine, the new 4G63 came with MIVEC, Mitsubishi’s variable valve lifting technology, which drastically improves the fuel consumption by changing the valve timing on the intake cam. The interior design of the Ferrari 458 Italia was done by Bertrand Rapatel (Director of Ferrari Interior Design), a French automobile designer.
The car’s exterior styling and features were designed for aerodynamic efficiency, producing a downforce of 140 kg (309 lb) at 200 km/h (120 mph). In particular, the front grille features deformable winglets that lower at high speeds, in order to offer reduced drag. The car’s interior was designed using input from former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher; in a layout common to racing cars, the new steering wheel incorporates many controls normally located on the dashboard or on stalks, such as turning signals or high beams.
According to British car magazine Autocar, the 458 Italia’s design has drawn inspiration from the Enzo Ferrari and its Millechili concept car. In 1999, the SVT Lightning made its return, with an Eaton supercharger increasing the 5.4 L V8’s output to 360 hp (380 hp for 2001 onward); over 28,000 were produced from 1999 to 2004. For 2002, Lincoln-Mercury gained its first full-size pickup truck since 1968 with the introduction of the Lincoln Blackwood, the first Lincoln pickup. Sharing the front bodywork of the Lincoln Navigator SUV and the same cab body work as the Ford F-150, the Blackwood was designed with a model-exclusive bed and was sold only in black. In 1999, the F-250 and F-350 pickups were introduced as the 1999 Ford F-Series Super Duty model line. This marks Porsche’s first fully digital instrument binnacle. A 10.9 inch screen is situated to the right of the instrument binnacle which serves as the infotainment system of the car. An optional screen is placed to the right of the infotainment screen which allows the front passenger to customise the infotainment system. An 8.4 inch screen is present in a portrait layout on the centre console with a trackpad to control the functions. The screen displays the status of the powertrain and tells the driver to efficiently use the power. Despite using an all digital layout, the dashboard features the classic Porsche clock on the top.
The exterior styling, penned by former Porsche Exterior Designer Mitja Borkert, is strongly influenced by the Mission E concept and retains most of the design elements present on the concept except the suicide doors and B pillars. Design features include a retractable rear spoiler, retractable door handles and an advanced regenerative braking system. Taking full advantage of the packaging advantages inherent in its drivetrain layout, the Taycan combines the fundamental short-nosed proportions of traditional Porsche models at the front with the stretched proportions of modern front-engine models towards the rear, providing clear design links to existing models. The front features four-point LED daytime running headlamps. At the rear, the car has a short notchback-style boot lid housing a full-width light band serving as taillights and turn signals that provides access to one of two luggage compartments. The R171 SLK was unveiled at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show. It features increased use of high-strength steel, and improvements to the car’s torsional strength and aerodynamic efficiency. Models feature a more compact, revised roof mechanism that is operated in 22 seconds (previously 25 seconds), resulting in an increase in boot capacity by 63 liters (2.2 cu ft). The R171 also introduced the Airscarf system that integrates neck-level heating system into the headrests of the car. The design of the car has undergone several changes, with the most noticeable being the rear, with new eyelid-like fixed flaps that continue with the design and eventually end on the rear lights along with the inclusion of vents on the rear engine cover for efficient cooling of the engine, the wheels which are new and are specifically constructed for the car along with Pirelli P-Zero tires, and the addition of a spoiler at the front. The car also uses conventional doors instead of the Gull-wing doors used in the coup? as such doors cannot be fitted to an open top car. The car utilises the same twin-turbo V12 engine as the coup? but the power is now uprated and is 764 PS (562 kW; 754 hp) at 6,200 rpm and 1,000 N?m (740 lb?ft) of torque at 2,400 rpm. The power is delivered to the rear wheels via an all-new Xtrac 7-speed sequential manual transmission which is 40% lighter than its coup? counterpart. The car is constructed by an all-new material developed by Pagani called ‘carbon triax’, which is a combination of tri-axis fibre glass with carbon fibre due to which the roadster weighs 70 kg (154 lb) less than its coup? counterpart, for a total of 1,280 kg (2,820 lb), making it the first roadster lighter than the coup?. Only 100 will be made, all of which have already been sold.
