The Countach was styled by Marcello Gandini of the Bertone design studio. His design for the Countach’s predecessor, the Lamborghini Miura, achieved commercial success and critical acclaim from the automotive press when it was introduced in March 1966. Following the Miura’s debut, Gandini began experimenting with a new, more angular and geometric design language in a series of concept cars for Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo and Lancia. In particular, the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo and 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero were direct styling precursors to the Countach. Like the Countach, they were both entirely wedge-shaped, mid-engine designs with a low, flat front, truncated tail and angular details. There are two special LM002 cars with the intention of making them capable of participating in the Paris Dakar Rally; one is painted in white, and the other is painted in orange. In 1988, Lamborghini constructed the white one. They stripped it of all unnecessary weight and gave it an upgraded suspension, engine modifications which brought it to 600 hp (447 kW), full roll cage, plexiglas windows, and GPS equipment. Funding ran out before it could officially be entered in competition, although one of them did participate in the Rallye des Pharaons in Egypt and another in Greece, both times driven by Sandro Munari. Following the foot-steps of Porsche in 1996 with the GT1, a purpose built racing car that created a stir in motorsports, Lamborghini contracted Signes Advanced Technologies (SAT), a company based in Toulon, France specialising in manufacturing prototype race cars, to develop a racing version of the Diablo to enter in the GT1 class racing. The company would build an entirely new chassis made of tubular steel and a carbon fibre body bearing resemblance to the road going Diablo with Lamborghini supplying the engine and getting the project through homologation. The 5.7 L V12 engine used in the standard Diablo variants was stroked to a displacement of 6.0 L utilising a reprogrammed engine management system. The new engine had a maximum power output of 664 PS (488 kW; 655 hp) at 7,550 rpm and 687 N?m (507 lb?ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm and transferred the power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed Hewland sequential manual transmission. The finished car weighed a total of 1,050 kg (2,315 lb) making it the lightest Diablo variant ever produced. The body work featured heavy modifications and little was shared with the road car. A very deep chin spoiler and fixed front lamps along with an adjustable rear wing was one of the main changes. The front and rear section of the car were entirely removable to allow easy access to the mechanicals of the car, the wheelbase and length of the car was increased than a standard Diablo for enhanced performance. Larger air intakes on the rear, NACA ducts near the doors and air intakes from the Diablo SV improved engine cooling. The car utilised scissor doors and tail lights from a regular Diablo further increasing its resemblance with the road going model. Other features included purpose built race interior, plexiglass windows, 18-inch centre-lock OZ racing wheels and an integrated roll-cage. The car was presented in 1997 to the factory in the presence of FIA representatives who approved and homologated the car for racing. But financial difficulties surrounding Lamborghini at that time forced the company to not go further with the project. Only 2 cars were built, one was meant for racing and one was the road legal version which dropped the rear wing. (Lamborghini Huracan)Hurac?n Sterrato In June 2019 Lamborghini introduced an off-road concept sports car based on the Hurac?n Evo called the Hurac?n Sterrato. The ground clearance of the car was increased by 47 mm (2 in) with the car’s front approach improved by 1% and the departure angle enhanced by 6.5%. The wheel track is also increased by 30 mm (1 in) and the Sterrato has new wide body fender flares with integrated air-intakes for improved airflow to tell brakes. The car is fitted with 20-inch wheels with special tyres for increased grip during off-roading. The car also comes with a reinforced frame and integrated skidpads for protection against debris. Introduced for 2009, Platinum is a luxury-oriented trim of the Ford F-150. (Porsche 911)996 GT3 (1999?2004) Porsche introduced a road legal GT3 version of the 996 series which was derived from the company’s racing car used in the GT3 class racing. Simply called GT3, the car featured lightweight materials including thinner windows and deletion of the rear seats. The GT3 was a lighter and more focused design with the emphasis on handling and performance, a concept that dates back to the 1973 Carrera RS. The suspension ride height was lowered and tuned for responsiveness over compliance and comfort. These revisions improved handling and steering. Of more significance was the engine used in the GT3. Instead of using a version of the water-cooled units found in other 996 models, the naturally aspirated engine was derived from the 911 GT1 ’98 sports-prototype racing car and featured lightweight materials which enabled the engine to have higher rpm.
The engine used was a naturally aspirated 3,600 cc (3.6 L) flat-six rather than the engine from the pre-facelift and revised Carrera. It is rated at 365 PS (268 kW; 360 hp) at first and later improved to 386 PS (284 kW; 381 hp) at the end of the 996 series’ revision. The 350 GT shared a number of features with the 350 GTV prototype, including a four-wheel independent suspension, quad-cam V12, and an aluminium body. A number of revisions and refinements were made due to the suggestions of the Neri and Bonacini racing development shop and test driver Bob Wallace.
