The F80 generation of M3 was produced only as a sedan, following the company’s plans to split off the BMW 4 Series coup?/convertible from the BMW 3 Series. To minimise weight, the roof is made of carbon fibre and the bonnet and front quarter panels are made from aluminium. The kerb weight was 1,621 kg (3,574 lb) with the manual transmission or 1,647 kg (3,631 lb) with the dual-clutch transmission.
