BMW M5 Transmission

The M5 uses the “SMG III” 7-speed single-clutch Electrohydraulic manual transmission, that performs gear shift in 65-250 milliseconds.

The SMG III includes launch control, a hill holder, shift-lock avoidance (by briefly disengaging the clutch during downshifts) and an automatic shift mode. However, many reviews have observed the automatic mode of the transmission at low or frequent stop start speeds as being less smooth than that of a conventional automatic transmission.
In North America, a conventional six-speed manual transmission was announced in October 2006. The SMG III remained the default transmission in North America, while the manual was available as a no cost option. The six-speed manual M5 was marginally slower in certain tests, as the dynamic stability control could not be disengaged unlike the SMG version (however this was later made possible and a retrofit was released for earlier cars). Porsche 911 Water-cooled engines

The Type 996 introduced in 1998 represented two major changes for the venerable 911 lineage: a water-cooled flat-6 engine replaced the popular air-cooled engine used in the 911 for 34 years, and the body shell received its first major re-design. Changing to a water-cooled engine was controversial with Porsche traditionalists, who noted this as the end of the ‘true’ 911.

Ford Buses

Ford manufactured complete buses in the company’s early history, but today the role of the company has changed to that of a second stage manufacturer. In North America, the E-Series is still used as a chassis for small school buses and the F-650 is used in commercial bus markets. In the 1980s and 1990s, the medium-duty B700 was a popular chassis used by school bus body manufacturers including Thomas Built, Ward, and Blue Bird, but Ford lost its market share due to industry contraction and agreements between body manufacturers. BMW 5 Series E12

Suspension
The BMW E12 has a self-supporting body, a longitudinally mounted front engine, and rear-wheel drive. All four wheels are suspended independently. The front wheels have McPherson struts with coil springs, hydraulic shock absorbers, and transverse control arms. The rear axle is a diagonal link axle with coil springs, and hydraulic shock absorbers. Models with a power output of 125 PS (92 kW) or more have an additional sway bar on the rear axle. All models except the M535i have 14-inch steel alloy wheels with a wheel-width of either 5.5 or 6 inches. Therefore, the tyre size is either 175 mm or 195 mm. All models use worm and sector steering, which is power assisted from the 528 onwards. Audi A5

The RS 5 Coup? is powered by a 2.9 liter TFSI V6 twin turbo engine producing 450 PS (331 kW; 444 hp) and 600 N?m (443 lbf?ft) of torque that is also used in the Panamera 4S. It is 60 kg (132 lb) lighter than its predecessor. Power is delivered to the quattro system with a 8-speed automatic transmission. The new RS 5 accelerates from 0?100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 280 km/h. It also comes with a honey comb grille, wider fenders and aggressively-styled front bumper with bigger openings than the A5 and S5.

Further developments include a new chassis featuring a five link front and rear suspension coupled to Audi Sport?s Dynamic Ride Control system offering variable damping control. Other options included with a carbon fiber engine cover and ceramic front brakes.

(Nissan Skyline)ALSI-2 series
The ALSI-2 series was released in October 1959 and was nearly identical to the ALSI-1 series except for the engine. Higher quality fuel allowed for an increase in compression and a power increase to 70 hp (71 PS). This new engine was designated the FG4A-40 (this engine was also known as the GA-4).

The ALSI-2-1 series was released in February 1960. The Deluxe, along with the commercial variants, were updated with quad headlights (the standard model retained the twin headlights). The side strip design was changed on standard models; the V-shape in the side strip was moved from the front doors to the rear doors. On Deluxe models the side strip design remained the same. Mercedes SLS Class

The 300 SL was introduced in 1954 in coup? form, featuring gullwing doors. The 300 SL roadster succeeded the coup? in 1957. The four-cylinder 190 SL was more widely produced with 25,881 units, starting in 1955. BMW 7 Series G11

Engines
The powertrain line-up consists of a 4.4 litre V8 engine and three engines from BMW’s modular B-series engine architecture?two 3.0 litre inline-six engines in petrol and diesel form, as well a 2.0 litre inline-four engine including the hybrid model designated as 740e/740Le, or 730i/730Li for the petrol version. Initially, each model can be equipped with all-wheel drive and is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic ZF automatic transmission. By 2005, both Ford and GM’s corporate bonds had been downgraded to junk status, as a result of high U.S. health care costs for an aging workforce, soaring gasoline prices, eroding market share, and an over dependence on declining SUV sales. Profit margins decreased on large vehicles due to increased “incentives” (in the form of rebates or low interest financing) to offset declining demand. In the latter half of 2005, Chairman Bill Ford asked newly appointed Ford Americas Division President Mark Fields to develop a plan to return the company to profitability. Fields previewed the Plan, named The Way Forward, at the December 7, 2005, board meeting of the company and it was unveiled to the public on January 23, 2006. “The Way Forward” included resizing the company to match market realities, dropping some unprofitable and inefficient models, consolidating production lines, closing 14 factories and cutting 30,000 jobs.

Ford moved to introduce a range of new vehicles, including “Crossover SUVs” built on unibody car platforms, rather than more body-on-frame chassis. In developing the hybrid electric powertrain technologies for the Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, Ford licensed similar Toyota hybrid technologies to avoid patent infringements. Ford announced that it will team up with electricity supply company Southern California Edison (SCE) to examine the future of plug-in hybrids in terms of how home and vehicle energy systems will work with the electrical grid. Under the multimillion-dollar, multi-year project, Ford will convert a demonstration fleet of Ford Escape Hybrids into plug-in hybrids, and SCE will evaluate how the vehicles might interact with the home and the utility’s electrical grid. The elimination of Group B from the World Rally Championship signified the end of Nissan’s FJ24-powered 240RS. The FJ20ET-powered Silvia RS-X of 1986 would have been Nissan’s first choice, however there was an insufficient number of that exact trim sold in Japan to meet the WRC’s Homologation requirements (minimum 5000 units). Nissan had to quickly find a car to replace the 240RS.

The North American 1987 200SX SE V6 was chosen and competed in 1986-89 as a 200SX. Nissan’s creation and choice of this car ensured they could sell 5000 cars required for WRC Homologation. The S12 “SE” trim’s V6 held the only real appeal to the North American market, allowing Nissan to sell right at 5000 cars to a single specification. The V6 was a very unusual choice as the WRC was dominated by 4-cylinder 2.0 L turbocharged engines, although for similar reasons Toyota entered WRC with the 6-cylinder Supra at the same time. The 200SX achieved a first place in the 1988 Ivory coast rally and second place for two years running in the very challenging Safari Rally 1988 and Safari Rally 1989.
